First Stop Poisoning Yourself!

First cease poisoning yourself!

As we began our low carb journey this was our first axiom, and you know what?

It is absolutely true!

Month off drinking slashes risk of disease: Abstaining found to heal the liver and lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels

Drinkers should take a month off alcohol to prevent serious illness in later life, doctors warned yesterday.

They cited dramatic British research showing how abstention can heal the liver and lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels. Patients who gave up for four weeks were also at lower risk of developing cancer and type 2 diabetes.

The study is the second at the Royal Free hospital to uncover the huge benefits of staying off booze.

Let me make a couple of really obvious points that the genius Pointdexter’s never quite seem to be able to put together. Alcohol is just carbohydrate concentrate so you could just as easily say: abstaining from carbs will heal your liver and every other part of your bod!

How cool is that?

Also, it is worth noting that 70 years ago realistically the only way to get Fatty Liver Disease was through a studious application of alcohol, or a concerted overdosing of carbohydrate concentrate today we can achieve the same effect sans booze. ladies and Germs please meet our good friend:

Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease

AKA The Cola and HFC disease. And of course the very moment you cease ingesting the tasty tasty carbohydrate poisons, so long as you haven’t impaired the actual function of your organs, your body will leap to repair the damage. That was certainly Michelle and my experience.

But modern medicine, being based on a ‘sell you drugs’ model doesn’t like this because, well, there’s nothing to sell. The prescription should be buy the best food you can afford and eat as much fat as you can tolerate and cut carbs below twenty grams a day.

Instead the genius Pointdexter’s actually say this: Researchers said if there was a drug able to produce similar results to a month’s abstinence from alcohol then it would be a ‘multi-billion pound market’

It seems to me that some things are so simple the highly intelligent (and ever so slightly immoral) just cannot grasp them.

So let me spell it out for them: cut carbs, add fat, buy the best quality food you can afford, get healthy!

Any questions?

How To Know You’re Doing Weight Loss Wrong…

If ever this headline were written of you, you would be doing weight loss wrong

Woman who lost 208LBS in 15 months by working out six times a week undergoes surgery to remove her excess skin and achieve the body she has always wanted

Remember: this is the ‘body she always wanted…’

‘There was nothing easy about this journey,’ she explained.  ‘It was very hard especially at first. My body ached from workouts and some days I didn’t think I would make it.

However her incredible weight loss left her with saggy excess skin that required three operations over eight months to remove.

The procedures included a tummy tuck, a Brazilian butt lift and removal of skin from her chest, back and arms.

Whereas I lay on a futon watching the x-files as weight just flowed off my body.  Though picking just the right crappy tv show for weight loss is critical!

‘I had to learn how to make my foods healthy. I never had a cheat meal or day for the first year and a half.  ‘I’m the only one in my family to eat healthy so I had to learn to be self-disciplined whenever we went out and they ate things.

Whereas, whilst laying on aforementioned futon and enjoying delightful X-Files silliness I stuffed my face with delicious Bacon and giant salads slathered with dressing, pork rinds, meat snacks and glorious, fatty repasts that made me swoon with pleasure.

This whole story just makes me weep for the ingrained and vicious stupidity of our modern medical profession. While I’m happy for the fact that she ultimately lost the weight is it not clear that starving people is not the way to go about weight loss?

I lost three hundred pounds* and have no extra skin, I experienced no particular discomfort during the process and instead of forcing myself to exercise before it was time, I waited, and suddenly I had energy.  I could barely sit still I felt so good.

If you had to choose a method to lose weight which one would you choose for someone you love?

The concentration camp or the Love Boat?

The truth is out there folks.

*I will put my story up soon.

Just The Faintest Hint Of Veggie Fascism…

I know I recently posted on this lunatic but, this was too good to pass up. It’s been my experience that people with the truth on their side don’t feel a need to tell others how to live

Interviewed before her appointment by Viva!life, a magazine that campaigns for a vegan world, McCarthy said:

“Progress on animal welfare is being made at the EU level and I feel it is best left to those campaigning groups working there but in the end it comes down to not eating meat or dairy.

“I really believe that meat should be treated in exactly the same way as tobacco with public campaigns to stop people eating it.”

McCarthy also said that in contrast to places like Latin America, in Europe “the constant challenging of the environmental impact of livestock farming is making me more and more militant.”

And just for the giggles…

For her part, McCarthy has tried to calm disagreements. She recently told the BBC’s Farming Today:

“There will be different viewpoints, there will be violent disagreements, but it’s about trying to listen to the evidence, approach things with an open mind – and I am very much prepared to do that.”

Just one problem toots, the sane folks have been having this debate for the last, what? Fifty years? And you guys have taken the profoundly adult approach of sticking your fingers in your ears and shrieking ‘la-la-la’ at the top of your lungs.  Not to mention coming up with catchy catch phrases…

Well sure, that’s reasonable.  More reasonable debate here.

Let me make something perfectly clear, if you choose to believe that eating meat is bad, fine. I happen to think you’re an idiot who is most likely incapable of rational thought, but I won’t use the power of government to shut you down. In fact I wish it were possible to have the debate Miss Mccarthy claims to want, unfortunately you can’t reason with someone who wasn’t reasoned into their position.

The truth is Veganism is Miss Mccarthy’s religion and like all fanatics* she seeks to usurp the power of the state to impose her beliefs on others.  Which is, if you weren’t paying attention, despicable.

*Just to be clear I am not in any way anti-religion, I am however anti fanatic who seeks to impose their views through force, fraud or coercion.

Dollars for Doctors

So, this came in the mail the other day:

chronic illness treatment ad

It’s an ad on glossy card stock for a medical center that specializes in treating “chronic conditions.” In case you can’t make it out, here’s the list of what they are offering to treat medically:

  • Chronic Pain
  • Diabetes
  • Obesity
  • Hypertension
  • Osteoporosis
  • ADHD
  • Asthma
  • Emphazema (sic)
  • Cholesterol
  • Back Pain
  • Arthritis
  • Joint Pain
  • Migraines
  • Weight Control
  • Dermatitis
  • Ulcers
  • Hepatitis
  • Nerve Damage
  • Thyroid Issues

My question is this: How many of these “chronic” conditions could be improved or even eliminated by simply incorporating a low carb, high fat diet? Cut the wheat. Cut the sugar. Cut the symptoms. I can’t speak to all of them, but a good number of them have proven to be preventable and/or reversible by getting off the modern western diet.

‘Cause I’m just guessing here, but I have a sneaking suspicion that the emphasis in “treatment” at this joint will err on the side of pharmaceutical rather than nutritional…and any diet modifications they do suggest would include reducing fat (especially of the saturated variety) and, of course, eating lots of fruit and veggies and hearthealthywholegrains.

In other words, when it comes to diseases of civilization, the medical community is better at dispensing the very nutritional recommendations that get and keep you sick in the first place.

Exit question: Does never-ending billing for drugs and doctor visits qualify as a “chronic condition?”

It should.

What Does A Dissent* Into Savagery Look Like?

Why, here ya go!

John Dick said when he updated the business’ Facebook page a few weeks ago, the store was enjoying 5-star endorsements. This week, the business’ rating plummeted.

“I’m like ‘Wow, what did I do?'” said Dick. “I must have made someone really mad. It was just a bunch of one star ratings by seven or eight different people.”

Kristina Foley, along with other friends and customers, defended the butcher online and realized most of the critics were from out of state. The reviewers seemed to be part of an organized attack with a purpose.

“When you looked at their pages, they’re all vegans,” said Foley. “And I’m like that’s not fair. You need to let people know your personal agenda is your personal agenda.”

It turns out those vegans had a beef with anyone trying to call them out. They started posting disturbing photos on the store’s Facebook timeline, then targeted the customers, like Jenny Lona. She said they reposted her photos, commenting she must look old from eating meat. *snip*

Foley showed us they even went as low to repost photos of her son, calling him “inbred.” *snip*

The butcher isn’t a stranger to these types of attacks. Animal rights activists vandalized Golden Steer Choice Meats repeatedly in 1996.

I find Veganism to be a particularly stupid and brutal religion filled with almost unbearably self righteous prigs who prattle on and on about ‘eating naturally’ whilst rejecting the very thing people have eaten since, well, forever — Meat!

In our years doing the diet one of the more eye opening and mildly amusing/horrifying trips we would make were to so-called ‘health food’ shops.  Which we took to calling Alchemy shops due to their hilarious habit of selling ridiculous overpriced ‘Incan Superfoods’ that typically turn out to be nothing more than brightly colored carbs for gullible rubes.

Want a real superfood?  It’s located at the butcher shop!

I hear the Golden Steer is pretty good.

Why Won’t This BS Die?

I mean seriously?

An outspoken critic of the meat industry, Ms McCarthy believes livestock farming contributes to world hunger by using crops as animal feed, rather than to feed humans.

“Then there are the sky-rocketing healthcare costs that are attributable in large part to the increase in human consumption of meat, eggs and dairy products. “Loaded with artery-clogging cholesterol and saturated fat, these products have been linked to cancer, heart attacks, strokes, diabetes and obesity. “These top killers burden the NHS and necessitate that billions of pounds be spent searching for cures and medications to relieve disease symptoms. “They also claim a huge number of lives.”

Let’s just start with the 80’s called and want their nutrition advice back, amiright?

The first thing she needs to watch is this amazing TED talk from Zimbabwean ecologist, farmer, soldier, exile, environmentalist, international consultant, and president and co-founder of The Savory Institute on reversing desertification.  Spoiler alert: cows are not the villains!

Next, if a vegan were capable of learning, she should read this excellent demolishing of the Lipid Hypothesis.

Then this round-up of the relevant new studies and data at Diet Doctor would be an excellent follow up.

I’ll leave the final smackdown to the evergreen George Orwell (H/T NRO)

Vegetarians are of ‘that dreary tribe of high-minded women and sandal-wearers and bearded fruit-juice drinkers who come flocking to the smell of “progress” like bluebottles to a dead cat’.
